Richard T. Serfas is vice president of commercial planning and design for American Nevada Co., a Greenspun company that specializes in the design and development of master-planned communities and commercial properties. He is responsible for site planning and design for the company’s retail and office development projects. He is also in charge of the procurement of entitlements from regulatory agencies. Serfas joined American Nevada Co. in 1999 and has more than 30 years of experience in his field. Prior to that, he was project manager of Focus 2000/Marnell Corrao Associates in Las Vegas since 1996, where he was in charge of property acquisitions and development entitlements. From 1989 to 1994, he was assistant director of the Clark County Department of Comprehensive Planning. He holds a master’s degree in real estate development from the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation of Columbia University, New York; a master’s in public administration/urban and regional planning from Pennsylvania State University, Middletown; and a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Colorado State University, Fort Collins. He is a full member of the Urban Land Institute and currently serves on the Commercial Development Silver Council and the Nevada District Executive Committee.
