Beyond the Sun

When you consider that Vegas is the reigning world champ in buffet dining, it seems odd that it took so long for a Fringe Festival to get here. Fringe Festivals are built around a multitude of choice, offering a smorgasbord of works showcasing the talent and scope of a community's theatrical offerings.

The Vegas Fringe, playing now at Las Vegas Little Theatre, is no different, serving up 10 productions in its inaugural year, with selections as traditional as Found Door Theatre's production of Great Falls by Lee Blessing — a story of an absentee father trying to make things right with his daughter — all the way to the experimental nature of White Girl by local artist Maythinee Washington, a piece based around spoken word and choreography that questions racial and gender identity.

"I believe we are celebrating the diverse cross-section of plays and types of performance that allows the audience to have all kinds of experiences in the theater," LVLT president Walter Niejadlik says. Consider us there.
