Gov. Jim Gibbons today announced the creation of an advisory board to combat crime.

Gibbons said the Nevada Crime Commission will be tasked with examining existing and emerging crime problems statewide and seeking methods and solutions to combat crimes.

The board will advise the governor and seek to promote communication among law enforcement agencies to find solutions to crime problems.

Members of the commission will include law enforcement officers from different levels of Nevada government, as well as state and local prosecutors, business leaders, community leaders and activists, and representatives of crime victims groups. Gibbons said in a statement he also will invite federal agencies.
