The body of former Gov. Kenny Guinn was escorted by law enforcement today from the Clark County Coroner’s Office to Palm Mortuary.
The police motorcade began about 11:30 a.m. from the coroner’s office, 1704 Pinto Lane, and ended about 2.5 miles away at Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.
People paused on the sidewalks near Fremont and Main streets to watch the motorcade while helicopters hovered overhead.
Guinn died Thursday morning at University Medical Center after falling from his roof. He was 73.
The coroner’s office completed its medical examination today. An official cause of death is still pending, but a final determination might not be known for several weeks. A funeral date hasn’t been scheduled.
Guinn, a moderate Republican who served two terms as governor after years in utilities, banking and education, fell from the roof of his home near Rancho Circle, where he was thought to be cleaning off pine needles. A heart attack was suspected.

Kenny Guinn was not a politician, and it showed. He did more for this state because of his flexiblity and understanding. But, what made him a good Governor is the fact that he worked in many different fields, banking, school superintendent, president UNLV, and served on many boards, its this disversity that enable him to think outside the box versus think on party lines. Sometimes you have to do what is in the best interest of the state or nation, Kenny Quinn did actually that. He reminds me a lot like President Reagan, he worked with what he had, and always can come up with a compromise for the sake of the people. I pray for the Quinn family, its difficult when you lose a close family member, especially a father, husband and grandfather.
Prayers to the Guinn family.... What a great loss for the state of Nevada.....
