Floyd Mayweather's camp issued a statement Monday afternoon regarding recent comments made by Manny Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum.
At 11:59 p.m. on July 16, Arum held a conference call to inform media members that although both sides of the potential megafight had basically agreed on all points of a contract to meet Nov. 13, Mayweather's hesitancy to sign off on the deal had forced Top Rank to seek a new opponent for Pacquiao.
In a statement released Monday, Mayweather's advisor Leonard Ellerbe said that a deal between the two sides never was made as Arum had suggested.
"Here are the facts," the statement said. "(Mayweather's manager) Al Haymon, (Golden Boy Promotions CEO) Richard Schafer and myself speak to each other on a regular basis, and the truth is no negotiations have ever taken place, nor was there ever a deal agreed upon by Team Mayweather or Floyd Mayweather to fight Manny Pacquiao Nov. 13."
It was the first statement made by anyone on Mayweather's side since negotiations reportedly began following Mayweather's latest win over Shane Mosley on May 1. If it happens, the Pacquiao fight is expected to be the richest in boxing history with each fighter making as much as $60 million.
Both sides were put under a gag order by HBO during negotiations, a request that ended when Arum leaked to certain news sites that the deal was close in late June.
In his July 16 conference call, Arum admitted he hadn't been in direct contact with Mayweather's camp and that all negotiations were being relayed through HBO president Ross Greenburg.
Ellerbe's statement verified as much, saying that either Greenburg or Arum was lying about the negotiations. Not surprisingly, Ellerbe hinted that Arum, who once promoted Mayweather before the two had a falling out, was the culprit
"Either Ross Greenburg or Bob Arum is not telling the truth," Ellerbe said. "But history tells us who is lying."
Pacquiao is expected to now face either Miguel Cotto or Antonio Margarito on Nov. 13. According to Arum, a deal with either of those two could be made as quickly as next week.

The real truth finally came out that Floyd is scared to fight a real fighter in his prime. He milked his drug testing alibi as much as he can but now the real truth is out: he is scared to meet someone who can punch back.
Floyd is probably the richest guy in Vegas, he doesn't need money.
He needs to change his name to "Retired, fat and Happy" Mayweather.
He'll fight Pacman in 10 years when they're both fat and broke.
The two comments above come from fans who feel they have been robbed of one of the greatest fights ever. I can feel their pain. Both fighters are exquisite craftsmen of the game, and for them to not fight would be like cancelling the 'Thrilla in Manila' or the 'Rumble in the Jungle'. If those legendary fights never happened there would be no boxing today.
Floyd is tentative, because Manny is the only fighter around he might not be able to beat. Floyd is a professional gambler and professional gamblers only bet on a sure thing. Fighting Manny is not a sure thing. Floyd also knows if he doesn't go through with this fight, he will never be considered the greatest. Look for him to fight, and expect it to be amazing.
$60 Million dollars each?
I hope that is a misprint. While I believe people at the top of their game deserve good pay that is way over the top for anyone.
These dollar amounts are just getting to ignorant.
While admitting I am not a huge fight fan I just thing this is getting stupid to pay them that much to fight. Hard to believe that fans can come up with the viewing price to cover that much for one fight.
the mayweathers are just making excuses again telling us no negotiations had occurred? come on, the very words of mayweathers tell that they are lying! the family of trash talkers were silent the whole time in respect to the negotiations, now they're telling us there had been no negotiations? family of liars this mayweathers are. why dont they just say they dont really want this fight to happen, period! once again, floyd decide to duck pacman, thats the whole story.
so much for coming out from retirement and calling pacman to fight him, in the end he never really want it... what is this called anyway, bluff? pretending he is tough and brave to conclude he cant even step up and face the small guy from asian. floyd jr is a wanna be yet cant stand to everything he claimed to be. a coward.
Looks like Floyd is making excuses again because he's afraid to fight Manny.
Floyd never wanted to fight Manny and he still doesn't. But pretending like they had no talks is a straight B move on his part. Not shocking really. Quit hiding pretty girl floyd.
As i mentioned on an earlier post-it was being reported on am1100 during local sports talk segment, that the mayweather camp was waiting for the legal case against roger mayweather to be decided before they committed to a fight. They indicated that some outcome should be determined in the next couple weeks, so after that court decision--this fight may still happen. Hope so.
Boxing fans if shane hurt floyd jr what will happen when manny hits him
pretty gutless.
Floyd is a coward that only fights people that he is confident he can beat. He has the skills of a Sugar Ray Leonard and the heart of Tonya Harding. I wish one of the tomato cans he fights will give him a "Buster Douglas" and bring the arrogant jerk down to earth.
Good dont fight....I hear boxing taking its last breaths......thank you MMA for giving me a combat sport were MEN fight...and not duck and run from a challage...BOXING IS BORING AND DEAD BECUASE OF GUYS LIKE FLOYD
Finally, everyone is seeing that the drug testing issue was a farce. If Mayweather is waiting on the outcome of his uncle's case, then he should say so. Instead he has someone from his camp tell the media that Bob Arum is a a big liar. Ha! Chicken!!!!
I'm a big fan of Floyd's skills and entertaining personality, but it doesn't seem like he wants any part of this fight.
CHICKEN FLOYD MAYWEATHER!!! I am ashamed he lives in Vegas. But he's no native las vegan.
floyd gets no love in vegas even though he's from here and insisted on Pacquio taking a drug test which Pacquio balked at. lv hates a black man, hometown hero or the president.
wakeup - Racism only exists because of the media and the old ignorant rednecks(most baby boomers and older) that are still alive. 10-20 years from now when these generations have passed, it will be laughed upon.
America has a black president, black #1 boxer, and even the #1 marketing and youtube sensation is black (old spice commercials), just to name a few.
Anyone who still thinks there is racism problem in this country is a fool, and the media and associations that have nothing better to do are keeping it alive.
Floyd gets no love because he is a heartless coward. It takes someone that is truly paranoid or delusional to extract race as an issue from the article or the posts.
MR,MAYWEATHER THE TALK IS THAT YOU ARE THE POUND FOR POUND FIGHTER TO BEAT CONGRESSMAN PACQUIAO IS IN OFFICE WAITING FOR YOUR SIGNATURE........
This should come as no surprise to anyone. I have watched Pac since 2001 when he beat Marco Antion Barea. Pac has walked the walk and talked the talk. He was clearly beaten by Erick Morales and he came back better and knocked Morales out twice. He has fought and beat future hall of famers while they were in their prime. He has not ducked any fighter. Now Mayweather hand picks opponents. While he is a great defensive fighter he does not fight the best. He once complained early in his career about being avoided and not getting the top fights. Now he pulls this? Pac would be Weather via skill and heart. He is a much better conditioned fighter and has too much stamina. Pac knows what it's like to get hit and battle and tough fights. Weather really wants no part of that because his perfect record will get tarnished, although I would take 60 million and let you knock me out.
@vegaslee - if they offered to pay you 60 million to sit and watch tv for 30 minutes would you complain about the amount of money you are receiving. would you say "hey instead of 60 million how about 2k". If people are willing to pay them 60 million so be it.
although I disagree with sevenhills, I also disagree with wakeup. Racism is alive and well, but not in this situation.
I have to agree with you there JW. Racism may not be as prevalent as it once was, it is still an unfortunate fact of life.
don't you all realize that mma is a superior sport?
Mayweather needs to grow a set and face Manny in November
