The Nye County sheriff says a homeowner shot and killed an intruder during an altercation described as a home invasion in Pahrump.

The Nye County sheriff's office said Friday that deputies found the alleged intruder dead just before 11 p.m. Thursday after they were called to a home at 680 East St.

His name and the name of the dead man were not made public.

Sheriff Tony DeMeo declined to provide additional information about the case. The sheriff is also the coroner in Nye County.

Nye County authorities are continuing to investigate the shooting today.
