Approximate area of crash
A 42-year-old Las Vegas man was killed Sunday after his vehicle struck a steel power pole on Losee Road in North Las Vegas, authorities said.
North Las Vegas Police Sgt. Tim Bedwell said the man was southbound on Losee in a 2004 Ford Ranger pickup truck about 5:20 p.m. when it left the road near the intersection with Gowan Road and struck the pole. Bedwell said the man was ejected from the truck. No other vehicles were involved.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s name and cause of death after notifying family members.
Bedwell said speed was a main factor in the crash. He said the speed limit on the road is 45 mph and the driver appeared to be traveling at much higher speeds.
“Drivers need to be ever vigil and even more so on holidays,” Bedwell said.
Losee Road was closed from Craig Road to Cheyenne Avenue on Sunday while authorities investigated the crash.
The crash was the fifth traffic-related fatality this year in North Las Vegas.

I agree...why would anyone be ejected in this day and age.
The name of the person killed was my son Max Anthony Montoya...Max committed sucide....A Few days before his death he was released from the hospital,I will not name the hospital because of a potential lawsuit,he was admitted because he was going to kill himself....Shortly after his release, for reasons unknown,he went to his Mother's house and gave her a big hug and said his goodbyes and got in his truck and proceeded to kill himself, his Mom's house is about a mile away.....Max,I know would not put other people in harms way and did it where little traffic was and on a holiday....There has been a lot of cruel and mean remarks on other websites and I have had them removed..Death is not to be made fun of under any circumstances....May Max rest in peace....Dad of Max,Max Arnold Montoya
