An award-winning choreographer, director, performer and producer, Toni Basil is a pop culture phenomenon. Best known for her cheerleading chant, the MTV mega-hit "Mickey," in which she donned her Las Vegas High School cheerleading uniform, the ultimate one-hit wonder was the recipient of the 2009 Living Legends of Hip-Hop Award.
Currently working as dance director of Bette Midler's The Showgirl Must Go On, which ends its run Jan. 31 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, Basil shared with Las Vegas Magazine what moves her about Sequin City.
Bradley Ogden:I love the Caesar salad and the wonderful breads, especially the blue corn rolls. ... And don't tell anyone, but I've been known to save a couple for next morning's breakfast. They are sweet and fluffy and just to die for!
Nevada Ballet Theatre:I was lucky enough to guest teach at the academy recently and was so impressed by the facility and young talent. It's really an amazing studio.
Red Rock Resort
To escape the hustle and bustle of the Strip, I like to head to Summerlin. Also, Red Rock hosts this year's World Hip Hop Dance Championship, which I will be back for!
Sahara Hotel:My father used to be the orchestra leader there, so it's wonderful for me to drive by and revisit those memories.
Poppin' Pete & Mr. Wiggles:Some great street dance legends live in Vegas, including my friends Poppin' Pete and Mr. Wiggles from the Electric Boogaloos. I often touch base with them, grab a private class with them and invite our showgirls to join in at The Colosseum rehearsal studio.
Shopping:I love shopping until midnight on the weekends at Barneys. It's so crazy and decadent. Only in Las Vegas are the stores open that late.
Whole Foods:I love the new one in Town Square Las Vegas. The selection of quality foods is amazing.
