Chance for showers tonight in Las Vegas

Cloudy and gusty conditions expected today, forecasters said

Cool, partly cloudy and windy conditions are expected today for Las Vegas, according to the National Weather Weather Service.

A low pressure system will bring a cold front across the valley late tonight, with the best chance of precipitation expected after midnight through Monday morning, the weather service said.

Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue through the region through Monday as an area of low pressure moves southeast through the southern Great Basin and Mojave Desert, forecasters said.

Drier and warmer conditions return on Tuesday, they said.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies are expected today, with gusty winds today and tonight, forecasters said. Wind gusts of 24 mph were recorded just before 10 a.m. at McCarran International Airport.

Temperatures around the valley just before 10 a.m. today were 54 degrees at McCarran, 50 degrees at North Las Vegas Airport, 51 degrees at Nellis Air Force Base and 52 degrees at Henderson Executive Airport.

Forecasters said temperatures in the valley would increase to 58 degrees by noon and reach a high of 61 degrees at 2 p.m. The normal high for today's date is 64 degrees and the record high was 80 degrees, set in 1977.

Tonight, temperatures will fall to 57 degrees by 6 p.m., to 54 degrees by 9 p.m. and to 50 degrees by midnight, forecasters said.

Monday's morning low will be 47 degrees and Monday's high will reach 56 degrees, forecasters said.

This morning's morning low at McCarran International Airport was 44 degrees at 6:56 a.m. The normal low for today's date is 43 degrees and the record low is 21 degrees, set in 1955.
