North Las Vegas police have arrested a man accused of shooting and killing a 60-year-old man last month.

Police arrested 41-year-old Billy Ray James in connection with the death of Willie Henderson, of North Las Vegas. The death was the first homicide of the year in North Las Vegas.

The shooting occurred in the 4700 block of Cattleman Drive. Officers found Henderson’s body when they arrived at the home shortly after 4:40 p.m. Jan. 22.

James was arrested in connection with one count each of murder with a deadly weapon with a victim older than 60, burglary with a deadly weapon and being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm. He was booked into the North Las Vegas Detention Center.

Police said James was let into the home by the victim. James allegedly shot Henderson, then tried to make the shooting appear to be a random break-in.

The victim had security cameras in his home, police said, so the incident was caught on tape.

The suspect’s motive is unknown, police said.
