7 schools get grants to boost students’ financial skills

Seven Clark County School District schools received more than $21,000 in grants thanks to the Nevada Public Education Foundation and Wells Fargo Bank.

The grant money, ranging from $670 to $8,267, will allow each school to provide additional instruction materials to boost financial literacy in students, according to CCSD officials. One school, Cambeiro Elementary School, will use the grant to fund a student book-publishing project.

“We are grateful to the representative of Wells Fargo Bank and the Nevada Public Education Foundation for their continued support of our schools, students and teachers,” CCSD deputy superintendent of instruction Lauren Kohut-Rost said in a statement. “Their continued involvement serves to further support positive learning environments at the identified schools, which in turn, has direct impact on academic achievement for our students.”

The following schools received grants: Cambeiro Elementary School, Greenspun Junior High School, Dearing Elementary School, Herr Elementary School, Hoggard Elementary School, Virgin Valley Elementary School and West Prep Academy.
