Two people were hospitalized today in a four-vehicle crash involving a paving truck in the northbound lanes of Interstate 15 south of the Sahara Avenue interchange, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

NHP trooper Joseph Fackrell said the paving truck apparently caused the accident at 3:06 p.m., then left the scene. Traffic on I-15 northbound was backed up to Silverado Ranch Boulevard for a time, but all lanes were reopened at 5:35 p.m., Fackrell said.

Two people were taken to University Medical Center, but their conditions weren't immediately known.

Four lanes were closed while crews worked to clear the scene. Fackrell said motorists should expect heavy traffic.

“With four lanes shut down, it’s going to be a while,” he said.
