LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Tracking devices can threaten privacy rights

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tracking, which is used to track everything from groceries, electronics, books, casino chips and other items, is too intrusive. RFID can be misused by not only corporations to track purchases of shoppers but also the government so they can know everything an individual is doing.

RFID is a tool that law enforcement agencies use more and which, in order to get information, opens up a Pandora’s box. The information can be useful, such as for solving crimes, but can easily be abused and violate the Fourth Amendment. RFID is a privacy concern that more citizens should be aware of and not tolerate for the reasons mentioned above.
