Art enthusiasts are invited to two new art exhibits hosted by the city of Las Vegas.

Residents are invited to “Emergy,” an interactive exhibit by New York City artist Maria Michails at the Charleston Heights Art Center, 800 S. Brush St. The free exhibit – featuring a human-powered mechanized rowboat that generates power to a photo gallery – examines energy and water usages in an urban desert environment.

The exhibit is open Tuesday through Friday between 12:30 and 8:30 p.m. and on Saturdays between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. through Feb. 17, 2011.

Las Vegans are also invited to visit the third annual “City of Las Vegas Employee Art Exhibit” in the Bridge Gallery at City Hall, 400 Stewart Ave. The exhibit showcases artwork created by city employees during their free time.

The gallery will be open from Jan. 2 to Jan. 28, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors can reach the gallery through the second floor of the City Hall parking garage on the corner of Stewart Avenue and Fourth Street.

For more information about the art exhibits, call (702) 229-1012.
