Cell phones as dangerous as alcohol in cars

I read in the Las Vegas Sun this month a story about a woman who was severely injured in 2004 in an accident caused by someone talking on a cell phone.

What will it take to forbid talking or texting on a cell phone to prevent people from being seriously injured or killed? Just banning the use of a cell phone will not solve the problem. Unless they are caught for some violation, people, not just teenagers, will continue using cell phones.

There are in-car devices that prevent those who drink too much from driving. Cell phone users are just as dangerous as drunken drivers.

There needs to be something installed in cars that will prevent drivers from using cell phones. When someone is killed, it will be too late.

How can anyone text without taking their hands or eyes off the road? Let’s get this problem solved before one more person is killed or maimed for life.
