School District sponsoring student photo contest

The Clark County School District is holding a photography contest for middle school shutterbugs.

Students are encouraged to submit digital photographs in four categories: Social Awareness (conveying a message), Nouns and Verbs (person, place, thing or action), What is it? (abstract, macro or unusual angle) and Whom do you Admire? (with a brief explanation why).

Students or teachers may e-mail entries, one per category per student, to [email protected]. Low-resolution cell phone pictures will not be accepted. Deadline for entry is 4 p.m. Jan. 7.

Selected images will be posted in an online gallery, www.ccsd.net/photocontest, and students and teachers will be allowed to vote once in each category. The contest’s organizers will decide the Best of Show honor.

The student receiving the most votes in each category will win an iTunes card and a framed print of their photograph. Their photos will also be published on the district website and the Best of Show picture will be published in the School District newsletter.

Awards will be presented to winning students at the school board meeting at 4 p.m. on Jan. 27.
