Man critically injured in crash
An 88-year-old Las Vegas man was critically injured Thursday while backing out of his driveway when the car suddenly accelerated backward into a fire hydrant, ejecting the driver, Metro Police said.
The man, Arthur Finkelstein, was taken to MountainView Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition, police said.
The crash happened about 7:15 p.m. in the 3000 Block Hawksdale Drive, police said. As Finkelstein attempted to back out, the car accelerated for unknown reasons in a circle onto a sidewalk, where it hit the hydrant, police said.
The crash remains under investigation, police said.
