Brandon Flowers performs at Cosmo

The Cosmopolitan marks the end of an era in Las Vegas history. And while we won’t see superstar musicians headlining casino openings for quite some time, it seemed fitting for Vegas-native Brandon Flowers to open the place up. On December 15, the Killers frontman performed a private acoustic set indoors, then returned later for a full show at the Boulevard Pool.

Flowers’ headlining event was quite the production. With the stage set up overlooking the Strip, the crowd filled in what would later become the actual swimming pool, some wrapping themselves in towels to fight the December chill. As Flowers commanded the audience, belting out new tunes from September’s solo debut, Flamingo, along with Killers favorites such as “Mr. Brightside” and “Read My Mind” and a cover of Kim Carnes’ “Bette Davis Eyes,” the hotel’s marquee broadcast the show to the buzzing Boulevard. The Black Keys— Cosmo’s next ticketed headliners, playing February 19 & 20 in the Chelsea Ballroom—have a tough act to follow.
