About 500 of Clark County’s foster teens gathered at Towbin Dodge on Sunday for the Valley Automall’s 13th annual Foster Teens Holiday Event in partnership with Clark County Developmental Services.

More than 500 teens in Clark County's foster system were treated to a shopping spree and a holiday celebration on Dec. 19 at Valley Automall's 13th annual Foster Teens Holiday Event.

Each teen received a $100 shopping spree sponsored by Valley Automall Owners Association. The teens boarded chartered buses, which ushered them to local retailers to purchase clothes, shoes and other items.

After the shopping trip concluded, the guests were treated to lunch and a pep talk from Eldridge Hudson, who played basketball for UNLV under Jerry Tarkanian from 1982 to 1987.

KVVU Channel 5 meteorologist Darren Peck hosted a raffle drawing for Schwinn mountain bikes, laptop computers, MP3 players and other items. Kerri May of Studio 1 Salon in Henderson offered free hair cuts.

"The kids receive a seasonal dose of caring, happiness and joy," Automall manager Valerie Staley said in a news release. "It affords them an opportunity to see that they are loved and important, which is what the holidays are all about."
