Morning blaze damages Henderson home

Damage runs to $100,000, but family to still occupy home

House fire

A Henderson home received about $100,000 worth of damages from a Saturday morning fire, the Henderson Fire Department said.

A neighbor noticed a fire in the single-family home at 134 Monteen Drive, near Pecos Road and Wigwam Parkway, and called 911 at 10:44 a.m., fire officials said.

Firefighters arrived at the home in about 4 minutes and discovered smoke coming from the garage door of the two-story house.

Fire crews quickly entered the burning building and found a smoldering fire in the garage. A nearby water line had melted and the water was preventing the fire from spreading beyond the area where it started, fire officials said.

The fire was extinguished about 5 minutes after firefighters arrived. No one was injured in the incident.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, officials said. Despite the damages to the house, the residents will be allowed to occupy the home, fire officials said.
