I recently returned home while teaching on a U.S. Navy cruiser for more than nine weeks. I was part of the Navy College Program for Afloat Education, and for many weeks I was the only civilian aboard.
I had a unique vantage point on the inner workings of the surface Navy. Even though the rest of the nation was awash in political news, not one member of the ship ever talked politics with me; they were far too busy for that.
I don’t know where else in the country you could find 300 such dedicated people, all with the goal of protecting our country.
