Meadows School, West Prep students mark third annual holiday event

The Meadows School Parents Association will throw a board game party on Friday for elementary school students at West Preparatory School in North Las Vegas.

Meadows School students will donate 500 board games to West Prep kindergartners through fifth-graders on Friday afternoon in the West Prep cafeteria, 2050 Saphire Stone Ave.

Students will enjoy cookies, apple juice and candy canes, all donated by the Meadows School’s Parents Association. Friday’s festivity marks the third annual holiday event at West Prep.

It’s a partnership that extends beyond the gifts, said Shari Wong, the chairwoman of the Parent Association’s Community Action Committee. Meadows School students tutor West Prep students in math and reading and next year, a school club plans to help their partner school build a school garden.

“Community Service is an important aspect of the Meadows School,” Wong said. “The partnership is beneficial to them (West Prep), but the whole point is to get (Meadows School) kids involved in volunteering.”

Wong’s son, Alex, is a Meadows School second-grader who helped pick board games and gift-wrap them for Friday's event.

“He was so excited to go to the store to choose games for (West Prep) kids his age,” Wong said.
