Holiday lights blamed in mobile home fire; 2 displaced

Map

Two people were displaced Thursday afternoon when a fire broke out in their mobile home due to an electrical short in the holiday lights around their Christmas tree, Clark County officials said.

Firefighters received a call at 1:10 p.m. from a resident who reported that the living room in the home, located at the Maycliff Mobile Home Park at 3601 E. Wyoming Ave., was on fire.

Firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the doors and windows of the trailer. The fire was primarily confined to the living room but caused an estimated $30,000 in damage to the single-wide trailer. The Red Cross is assisting the residents.

Fire officials believe the incident is the first Christmas tree-related fire of the season in Clark County.
