The city of North Las Vegas will close its offices between Dec. 24 and Jan. 2, and reopen Jan. 3.
The closure comes because of the Teamsters Local 14’s agreement with the city in which the group agreed to furlough days to avoid layoffs. The union made the agreement to help the city close a $35 million budget gap.
Closures will occur at City Hall, 2200 Civic Center Drive; Neighborhood Recreation Center, 1638 N. Bruce St.; Silver Mesa Recreation Center, 4025 Allen Lane; Municipal Golf Course, 324 E. Brooks St.; North Las Vegas Library, 2300 Civic Center Drive; Aliante Library, 2400 Deer Springs Way; and Alexander Library, 1755 W. Alexander Road.
Emergency service workers, such as police and firefighters, will be working during the week, officials said.
The office of Utilities Services Water Payments, 2829 Fort Sumter Drive, will be open Dec. 27 through Dec. 30, and the Municipal Court, 2332 Las Vegas Boulevard North, will remain open Dec. 28 through Dec. 30.
The city of Henderson, as a money-saving measure, will also close its doors between Dec. 27 through Dec. 30 due to an agreement with their Teamsters union.
