Man admits to distributing 1,800 ecstasy pills

A Las Vegas man pleaded guilty Friday to selling 1,800 ecstasy pills to an undercover Drug Enforcement Administration agent, Nevada's U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden said today.

Scott Vasatis, 35, pleaded guilty to participating in a money laundering conspiracy and conspiracy to distribute ecstasy. Vasatis admitted that between Dec. 1 and Dec. 4, 2009, he received in exchange for the ecstasy pills $7,500 from a person he believed was a large-scale drug dealer, but who was really an undercover DEA agent.

The agent told Vasatis he was “looking to get a bunch before New Year's, UNLV is my hit, I got a bunch of people waiting for it.”

Vasatis is scheduled to be sentenced March 14. He faces up to 20 years in prison on each count, and fines of up to $500,000 on the money laundering count and $1 million on the drug trafficking count.

The investigation was led by the DEA and other agencies of the Nevada High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kishan Nair.
