Students from Bishop Gorman and College of Southern Nevada West high schools walked away with first place prizes at the district finals of the "We the People" competition on Saturday at Basic High School.
Seven Clark County schools vied for titles in District 1, where Bishop Gorman topped Boulder City and Basic, and District 3, a clash between College of Southern Nevada West, Canyon Springs, Clark and Shadow Ridge.
Both schools move onto the state contest in February in Carson City.
During the competition, the students presented opposing sides of constitutional issues to a panel of judges in a mock Congressional hearing.
