Officials: Nye County administrator targeted in home invasion, robbery

Detectives from the Nye County Sheriff's Office believe the county's public administrator, Robert Jones, was targeted during an armed home invasion and robbery Saturday night.

Officials said four to six men and women dressed in black with ski masks over their faces forced their way into Jones' home on Black Street in Pahrump armed with a shotgun and handgun between 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.

They tied up Jones after a physical altercation, then took undisclosed items from the home, officials said.

"This attack appears to not be a random act of violence but an isolated intentional act against Jones because of his official capacity," detectives said in a statement.

Officials believe the suspects are still armed and dangerous and asked them to surrender themselves to the Sheriff's Office.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact the Nye County Sheriff's Office at (775) 751-7000 or to e-mail anonymous tips to [email protected].
