LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

U.S. doesn’t make efficient use of its natural resources

What has happened to our great nation — and why are we spending billions of dollars for oil from countries that seemingly couldn’t care less about our future? We are supposed to have more available oil at our disposal than any other nation in the world.

I am 80, and gasoline and oil was needed years ago and it will be needed 80 years from now, regardless of how many electric cars are in the future for our transportation.

If this country wants to lower unemployment, why don’t we take some of the billions of dollars we send to other countries for oil and start building our own refineries to make more gasoline and lower its price? The unemployed then would be able to afford gasoline to go look for jobs.

Instead of grinding up corn, etc., for fuel in cars, which raises the price of bread and feed for our cattle, let’s build more oil refineries to lower the price of gas.
