Letter to the Editor:

Democrats fared well in compromise

Come on, Democrats, do the math!

A compromise, usually, means the total of something is halved and satisfies both sides.

Our president and the Republicans in Congress have compromised on two questions facing our country (the Bush-era tax cuts and unemployment benefits extension). Republicans are happy because they got the extension of tax cuts for the rich. Democrats should be happy as they got a 13-month extension of unemployment benefits and continued tax cuts for 98 percent of the country.

Republicans got one-third of the whole for the wealthy.

Democrats got two-thirds of the whole for the working class.

Again, I ask you to do the math and count your blessings. Among those blessings are that you can readily see the true colors of both parties and who they represent!
