Letter to the Editor:

Elected leaders too tied to wealthy to help the rest of us

I am so tired of listening to our “leaders” in Washington, be it Republican or Democrat, arguing about raising or lowering taxes. They cater to the rich who fund them, keeping them in office.

We have so much unemployment. Do they realize what it is to stand in line for a meal, or when you get to the end, the food is gone. Have any of our “leaders” ever experienced no job, no food, family looking for help? I don’t think so.

They sit in their warm residences, in either Washington or their home state, and don’t realize what it is to be hungry in what used to be the best country in the world. Do you remember when Chrysler was going under, and Lee Iacocca reduced his salary to $1 a year until the company got back on its feet?

I would like to see our politicians live like the middle and lower classes. They should get Social Security and Medicare like the rest of us. Why are they privileged to get special treatment? And when they think they should have a raise — they are the ones who vote for it.

Also, if we didn’t outsource so many of our businesses we wouldn’t have the unemployment we have. Why doesn’t the government tax them really high for any product not made in this country.

If those companies were highly taxed, maybe they would bring companies back here and put our people to work. No matter what you buy the majority is made in China, etc.

Come on, Washington, get on board with the people you are supposed to be representing. Start thinking about others.
