City of Las Vegas offers winter youth camps

For parents who want a little winter break of their own are encouraged to register their school-aged children for a winter break youth camp being offered at three Las Vegas community centers later this month.

The two-week, day camps will be held between Dec. 20 and 30, Monday through Thursday. There will be no camps on the Friday holidays, Dec. 24 and Jan. 31.

Between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., camp members, ages 6 to 15, will enjoy age-appropriate activities including arts and crafts, holiday games, sports, music, life skills, nutrition and physical fitness under the supervision of professional staff.

The camps, being offered through the city of Las Vegas, cost $75 per child each week, and $70 for an additional child from the same household. Camp participants should bring a sack lunch, snacks and beverages daily.

Participating community centers include:

• Cimarron Rose Community Center: 5591 N. Cimarron Road, 702-229-1607. Camp for ages 6 to 11.

• East Las Vegas Community/Senior Center: 250 N. Eastern Ave., 702-229-1515. Camp for ages 6 to 15.

• Mirabelli Community Center: 6200 Hargrove Ave., 702-229-6359. Camp for ages 6 to 15.

Interested parents can register their children for the camps by calling 702-229-5445. Registrants will need a Leisure Access (family account) number a personal LeaisureLink number and program codes. These can be obtained by calling the facilities directory or by visiting clvbeyondtheneon.com.

Registration, which is also available at each of the facilities, will continue until the camps are full. Camp fees must be paid at the time of registration in order to reserve a spot. A limited number of scholarships may be available through the Community Development Block Grants.
