Green Valley Library competing for $25,000 Pepsi Refresh grant

Green Valley Library is asking for votes as it competes for a $25,000 grant from Pepsi to build a lounge for Henderson teens.

The library is vying for a slice of $1.3 million in grant money, awarded to businesses, people and non-profits with an idea to make a positive impact on their community as part of the Pepsi Refresh program.

Through New Year's Eve, those interested can click to vote for the library's idea, one of more than 1,000 submitted. Awards will be handed out on Jan. 1.

The Teen Lounge would be separated from the rest of the library and outfitted with seating areas for teen events and games, quiet study, reading and socializing.

The $25,000 would pay for furniture, computer equipment, art, a video game library and a non-fiction book collection -- doubling the library's space for teens, Jessica Sullenberger, teen services librarian, said in a release.

Those interested can also text 104355 to Pepsi (73774) to vote. For more information, call 702-492-6581.
