LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Corporate profits come at expense of U.S. workers

Last week it was announced that labor productivity increased at a 2.3 percent annual rate in November. Wow, this sounds wonderful — profits are reaching record highs, etc.

The only thing left out is how this was achieved at the expense of the American worker.

People have been forced to work overtime with little or no pay increases (because there are plenty of unemployed to take their places if they balk).

There also has been a reduction in benefits — for example, higher health costs, reduced coverage or no coverage at all.

Also, there are lower wages or no raises (plenty of workers out there; unions are no longer effective).

Is any wonder corporations are dancing on Wall Street?
