It’s curious that this year a major portion of the United States’ economic future, and a large part of the world’s, is more deeply dependent upon Christ — specifically, substantial income from sales resulting from the celebration of his birthday.
It’s curious because, if I see his life correctly, it was intended to bring about less temporal rewards. So I wonder: Was an economic shot in the arm, brought about by a life lived without material support, intended? Or have we humans missed the point again? It’s curious.
Perhaps simply experiencing grace between people is reason enough to celebrate life.
