LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Erosion of liberty an affront to our country’s founders

The men who founded this country wouldn’t sit silent to the constant erosion of the freedoms and liberties they risked everything for and fought so hard to establish.

What kind of man would even think of subjecting himself, let alone his wife and kids, to the possibility of getting groped by a government agent in a manner that would result in his arrest, incarceration and denial of liberties by that same government if he did the same to the government agent on a public street in the interest of public safety?

Real men would never so willingly surrender a pound of freedom for an ounce of security. Americans have surrendered so many civil rights that their lives are far more likely to be altered from innocent contact with their local law enforcement agency under the guise of the new Gestapo 9/11 policies than they are by terrorists thousands of miles away.

Where is the outrage, the refusal, the will to defend the love of freedom?

Where are the Americans willing to live up to the same pledge as the signers of the Declaration of Independence?

“And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”

The silence is deafening.
