About 100 relatives of service members deployed from Nellis and Creech Air Force bases have been invited to the Las Vegas Country Club on Sunday for a Christmas holiday celebration.

The annual festivities will take place between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the country club, 3000 Joe W. Brown Drive. About 400 invited guests, including country club members and 150 children, are expected to attend. The event is not open to the general public.

The families and children of military service members will be treated to arts and crafts, face painting, elves, balloons, train rides, games and a photo booth. Drinks and refreshments will be served.

At 1 p.m., Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will descend upon the ninth hole fairway in a helicopter to greet the children with stockings filled with gifts and candy.

“For so many of these military families, it’s just such a hard time of year,” said Sarah Martini-Ricci, the club’s director of catering. “We hope this will just alleviate the stress for one day.”
