Tropicana Las Vegas Hotel and Casino Inc. this week said certified public accountant Marie Ramsey, vice president of finance, was promoted to vice president and chief financial officer.
Ramsey has served as vice president of finance since she joined the company in June -- the same month Jerry Fox resigned as vice president and chief financial officer.
Earlier, Ramsey was vice president of finance for MGM Grand Hotel from 2005 to May 2010. She was director of finance for New York-New York Hotel & Casino from 2002 to 2005 and was director of finance for Palace Station and Fiesta Rancho from 1996 to 2001.

-- Las Vegas gaming consulting and management company the Fine Point Group said it hired Caesars Entertainment executive Joseph Howard as a vice president in its Casino Operations practice. Fine Point said Howard is currently a regional vice president for Caesars Entertainment (formerly Harrah's Entertainment), in its Las Vegas region.
-- Las Vegas-based American Wagering Inc. appointed John English as senior vice president of business development and public affairs. English was senior vice president of business and creative development for Las Vegas Gaming Inc. from 2004 to 2009.
