After the holidays, Henderson to recycle Christmas trees

Old Christmas trees will become mulch for Henderson's green space as part of the city's tree recycling program this winter.

From Dec. 26 to Jan. 12, the parks and recreation department will collect residents' used Christmas trees at city parks during normal hours. Residents are asked to remove all non-organic materials -- ornaments, lights, wires, etc. -- before making their donation.

The trees will then be chipped into mulch and used for landscaping at the city's parks and municipal buildings. Last year, citizens donated more than 2,000 trees.

Drop-off locations are: Acacia Park, 50 Casa Del Fuego St.; Anthem Hills Park, 2256 N. Reunion Drive; Mission Hills Park, 551 E. Mission Drive; Morrell Park, 500 Harris St.; Pecos Legacy Park, 150 Pecos Road; and Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Drive.
