LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

New access to truth is an upshot of WikiLeaks

There are obvious, dangerous downsides to the WikiLeaks fiasco, however there is something satisfying about the free flow of unvarnished truth that characterizes the matter.

Not in generations has the world been exposed to the banquet of raw facts that comprises the natural order of this international information and gossip upheaval. For those fed up with the extreme overflow of “political correctness” in today’s lexicon, something like WikiLeaks can be almost refreshing.

Until the complicated resolution of this matter unwinds, we will not know the damage that has been caused. But in the meantime, there is some consolation in knowing that the deep, dark secrets of the political elite are in front of everyone to observe.

If it is credible that “the truth sets us free,” then we are feeling a little more free today because of these leaks. I do not mean to impart the notion that these leaks are a “good” thing, only that they are what they are.
