Nellis Air Force Base welcomed a new commander to its Warfare Center on Tuesday.
Maj. Gen. James W. Hyatt assumed command of the center during a change of command ceremony at the Thunderbird hangar. Commander of the Air Combat Command Gen. William M. Fraser III presided over the event.
The Warfare Center oversees more than 10,000 airmen across 20 states, a center of excellence, 19 detachments and the Nevada Test and Training Range. The center also offers its members operational training, tactic development and advanced air, space and cyberspace operational and tactical training.
Gen. Hyatt served as the Special Assistant to the Director of Operations and the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Plans and Requirements at the U.S. Air Force headquarters before assuming command of the Warfare Center.
“I am proud to be here with the great Airmen who make up five wings and two direct reporting units,” Hyatt said in a statement. “I look forward to working with them to continue shaping how our force fights the wars of today and prepares those of tomorrow.”
