Students enrolled in a D.A.R.E. Program are invited to attend a Las Vegas Wranglers hockey game for free Friday, Dec. 10. Their parents will receive a reduced ticket price of $10.
The event is part of D.A.R.E. Night at the Orleans Arena when the Wranglers take on the Idaho Steelheads at 7:05 p.m. The program's mascot, Daren the Lion, will attend as well as D.A.R.E. officers who will drop the ceremonial first puck at the beginning of the game, Metro Police said.
A special section of the arena will be converted into a no-alcohol zone for the students and their parents. Parents can pick up information about D.A.R.E. at tables located in the concourse area.
All parent ticket proceeds will be donated to the Nevada D.A.R.E. program, which teaches students skills to avoid using drugs, joining gangs and being involved in violence.
Future D.A.R.E. Nights at Wranglers games include: Jan. 14 vs. Ontario Reign; Jan. 22 vs. Bakersfield Condors; Feb. 5 vs. Elmira Jackals; Feb. 13 vs. Victoria Salmon Kings; and April 2 vs. Stockton Thunder.
Parents wishing to buy a ticket should contact Brendan Doolan at 702-471-7825 Ext. 226 or [email protected].
