Allegiant Air will begin flying twice-weekly routes between Las Vegas and Minot, N.D., beginning in October.
It will be the fourth North Dakota destination for Las Vegas-based Allegiant, which specializes in linking small cities across the United States with resorts. The airline already flies round trips between Las Vegas and Bismarck, Fargo and Grand Forks.
Beginning Oct. 22, flights will leave McCarran International Airport Mondays and Fridays at 6:50 a.m., arriving at Minot International Airport at 11:30 a.m. The return flights leave Minot at 12:10 p.m., arriving in Las Vegas at 1 p.m. Allegiant will use 150-passenger twin-engine MD-80 jets on the route.
“This new air service announcement represents Allegiant’s confidence in this market,” said Andrew Solsvig, Minot International’s airport director. “The Minot community and region will now have access to one of the best leisure destinations on the planet.”
Allegiant is introducing the route with $70 one-way fares, which don’t include taxes and amenity fees.

Why would it take almost five hours to fly from Vegas to North Dakota but on the way back only takes 50 minutes if the flight left at 12:10pm and arrived at 1pm?
All times are local and there's a two-hour time difference between Pacific Time and Central Time. The flights take just under three hours.
Did that comment really need to be explained by the columnist? Wow. Haha.
People still live in North Dakota? wow.
Oh, those pesky time differences! Unlike most on this site, I can admit when I'm wrong. And I was.
Make sure you write something up when Allegiant announces their flight to Maui (if they ever do).
MINOT? Wow. Who'd'a'thunk it? Flights'll be full of ropers & roughnecks. Fasten your seat belts, folks; it might get just a little bumpy!
