Woman attacked

Metro Police are searching for a woman who attacked and critically injured a 95-year-old woman while trying to steal the victim’s purse.

Police say the incident happened shortly before 10 a.m. July 26 in a shopping center parking lot in the 4800 block of West Desert Inn Road.

The victim was walking through the lot when a woman came up behind her and tried to grab the woman’s purse, police said. The victim didn't let go of the purse and a struggle ensued, police said.

During the struggle, the victim, who managed to hang on to her purse, was forcefully pushed to the pavement, police said. Officers found her on the ground suffering from serious injuries.

After the attack, the woman fled with another woman in a dark blue, two-door, sub-compact car, police said.

The attacker was described as a white woman, 20 to 24 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 120 to 140 pounds. She was wearing a light brown dress.

The driver of the getaway car was white, possibly with light brown hair, police said.

Police ask that anyone with information about the attack or who may recognize the car involved contact Metro’s Robbery Section at 828-3591 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
