Eight men were detained by Metro Police on Thursday evening after apparent gang-related shootings in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market, authorities said. No injuries were reported, police said.
Police received calls about the incident at 5:15 p.m. at 1400 S. Lamb Blvd., near the intersection of Lamb and Charleston, Metro spokeswoman Barbara Morgan said.
Morgan said the eight men involved in the incident had been in a “running gun battle,” adding that they were moving throughout the parking lot and shooting at each other.
After the incident, some of the men got into their cars and tried to leave, Morgan said. The four cars they got into were identified by police, officials said, and all eight men allegedly involved were detained.
Morgan said arrests were made in the shootings, but she wasn't sure this morning how many of the men were facing charges in connection with the incident.
