Boy, 4, drowns in northwest valley swimming pool

Approximate location of drowning

Metro Police said a 4-year-old Las Vegas boy drowned Friday afternoon in a northwest Las Vegas Valley swimming pool.

The boy was taken to Centennial Hills Hospital after he was found unresponsive in the pool on Irish Spring Street near Ann Road and Durango Drive, Metro Police Lt. Dan McGrath said. Police received a call at 4:45 p.m. from the hospital about the boy, who at the time was in "extremely critical condition," McGrath said.

McGrath said a preliminary investigation shows the boy was in the pool with other children and that there was adult supervision. Other details weren't available early Friday evening.

An investigation by Metro’s abuse/neglect detail will try to determine if the case involved any wrongdoing, police said.
