Pedestrian collision
A woman was critically injured when she was struck by a vehicle that left the scene of the collision Thursday afternoon in the eastern Las Vegas Valley.
Metro Police received a call about a hit-and-run incident at Charleston Boulevard and Frank Street at about 4:20 p.m., police spokesman Bill Cassell said. That location is just west of Charleston's intersection with Nellis Boulevard.
Cassell said it was unclear whether the woman was in or out of a crosswalk at the time of the incident. She was taken to University Medical Center's trauma unit with critical injuries, police said.
Witness statements and evidence indicate a 2003 Hyundai sedan was headed west on Charleston in the center through lane when the pedestrian was struck, police said. Witnesses followed the car, which has been located and impounded, police said. The driver has not been located, police said.
Police are asking that anyone with information about the whereabouts of the driver call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555 or Metro at 828-3786.

Who cares if she was in a crosswalk. The car hit her and then drove off. Git the cell phone out of your face and look where you are driving. I have been hit and I was in the crosswalk. It hurts no matter where you are standing. Some day it might be you standing there trying to fight off a 2 ton car. Look and let some one else live anothere day
If they have the car and need help finding the driver, why not contact the owner. Or, at least give us something other than "2003 Hundai sedan". How many of you can identify that car from the police description? How about color, tag number, any special decals or dents etc....
Why would you hit someone that is hurt and leave.
Its a crazy world we live in
I saw someone the other day talking on their cell phone, eating, looking through their bag, all the while they walked across the street - against traffic. Drivers can be at fault but so can walkers in this city! Look both ways and focus on walking and continue to look both ways while you walk. There is no reason to make any part of the street be in a crosswalk or not a place to hang out and think you own it. Nor should drivers - but they have a lot more body armor.
sigtwenty and luvthadirt your comments are uncalled for. Her name is Jessica and she is only 19. She was walking home after work and now she is brain dead. She was a wonderful person who chose to be an organ donor and in her death she is giving life to many others. The driver in his life gave only death, he needs to turn himself in and face the music. How do I know about her? Jessie was a friend of my kids while growing up and she had a hard life. Now in her death people who know nothing are discussing her like she didn't matter. Well, she did.
