Conan 2.0

Conan O'Brien

Wes Gatbonton

Conan O’Brien

David Letterman revolutionized the late-show format while on NBC. Few can match his achievement. But Conan O'Brien came damn close and is the nearest thing the genre has to a resident genius. Too bad talent isn't all the game is about these days. Jay Leno sits, again, in the well-worn chair he called his for 17 years, while Conan takes his tools to TBS, no doubt to fashion the best piece of furniture yet.

Until that happens, you can see the man in person in Las Vegas, part of his Legally Prohibited From Being Funny on Television Tour. The puppet strings? Likely to make an appearance. The foot-plant jump? Also likely. The Masturbating Bear? Well, kinda; with NBC holding rights to that bit, Conan now does The Self-Pleasuring Panda, a bit of revisionism that is almost funnier than its source material — and quintessentially Conan.
