Passenger traffic at McCarran International Airport last month was down 4 percent compared to March 2009, airport officials said today.
The airport reported that 3,487,552 passengers arrived at or departed from the airport last month. That's down from 3,633,269 passengers a year earlier.
The number of passengers traveling through the airport for the first three months of the year is down 3.5 percent compared to a year earlier, from 9,691,051 to 9,351,753.
Southwest Airlines, the busiest carrier at McCarran, saw a 1.9 percent decrease in passengers in March compared to a year earlier.
The second-busiest carrier, United, saw a 1.8 percent decline. US Airways, which has cut jobs at McCarran and trimmed its flight schedule, came in third with a decline of 54.5 percent.
