What’s Nancy Pelosi got to do with it?

Monday, April 12, 2010 | 2:01 a.m.

Sometimes it’s better in campaigns just to shut up. Perfect example: After the announcement of Justice John Paul Stevens’ retirement, Harry Reid’s foe Sue Lowden sent out the following: “I want to thank Justice Stevens for his years of service on the bench,” Lowden said. “The announcement of his retirement opens the door for President Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi to cross party lines and nominate as well as confirm a candidate that will serve with judicial restraint, ruling by the virtue of our Constitution as intended by our Founding Fathers.” Now I understand the use of Obama-Reid-Pelosi on health care reform and other topics. But Nancy Pelosi has as much to do with confirming a Supreme Court justice as I do. That’s what happens when you can’t resist using every event to take a shot. Sometimes you shoot yourself.
