Man wanted for probation violation leads police on chase

A Metro Police pursuit involving a man wanted for violating his probation ended this afternoon on Charleston Boulevard with a vehicle accident.

Metro spokesman Marcus Martin said the pursuit began at 2:52 p.m. in the 11100 block of Zarod Road, which is near the 215 Beltway and Desert Inn Road, when authorities came across a man wanted for violating his probation. Martin said the man was was said to be armed and dangerous on his wanted notice. He led police on a pursuit in his gray Ford F-150.

Martin said it appeared to officers the man used the phrase, “I’ll never be taken alive,” before leading officers on the pursuit, which ended about 3:30 p.m. near Charleston Boulevard and Cimmaron Road.

The truck was weaving in and out of traffic at 80 mph before crashing, police said. Martin wasn't sure what the vehicle crashed into.

The man and a passenger in the truck were treated at the scene for their injuries.
